Alley 19 Bowling FAQ
Why does the installer tell me that I don't have enough room on my hard drive?
-
Running older programs on Windows XP.
How do I play against other bowlers over networks?
-
The Windows 95 network features are finally available. You will need to
download a patch to update to the latest
version (1.7).
I've installed the game. Why doesn't it run correctly?
-
You must install the Microsoft DirectX5 drivers to run Alley 19. The Setup program
on the CD will prompt you to install these. On some systems, you will see a
warning against installing DirectX5. Ignore this warning.
Also check with your video card manufacturer to ensure that you have the latest
drivers. Video drivers are frequently updated. These updated video drivers are
free, and the latest drivers can often be downloaded from the manufacturer web
site in a matter of minutes. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for installing
the new video drivers.
I can't hear any music with the game.
-
The 50's background music is stored as audio files (just like music CDs) on the
Alley 19 CD. If you can listen to an audio CD through your CD-ROM drive, the Alley
19 music should work normally. If you cannot use your CD-ROM drive for audio CDs,
that's the problem. Some CD drives have headphone jacks; if you plug in a pair of
speakers to the headphone jack, you can hear the music that way.
How can I uninstall the game and the DirectX drivers?
-
If you decide later to uninstall DirectX5 and the Alley 19 program, follow these
steps:
- Double click on My Computer,
- Double click on Control Panel,
- Double click on Add/Remove Programs,
- Highlight DirectX Drivers,
- Click on the Add/Remove button,
- Insert the Alley 19 disk into your CD-ROM drive,
- Scroll down in Add/Remove Programs and highlight Alley 19,
- Click on the Add/Remove button.
This will return your computer to the exact state it was before the installation.
The program or my system just acts strange.
-
Run ScanDisk.
