World Series of Poker Adventure for DOS FAQ's
Why am I having trouble with this program on Windows XP?
-
Running older programs on Windows XP.
Is there a Windows version of this game?
-
Yes, the World Series Deluxe Casino Pak for Windows contains all of the games from
the original plus eight more new games, including pai gow poker, craps, roulette,
and industry exclusives Carribean Stud Poker and Let It Ride. For more
information, check the Casino games section of our
Online Store.
I'm running Windows 95. How can I get to the program easily?
-
If your installation went okay, use the following steps to create a Windows 95
icon for the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Adventure:
-
In Windows 95, from the Start button, go to Programs, then click on Windows Explorer.
- In Windows Explorer, click View, then click Show Details.
- In Windows Explorer, click View again, then click Options.
-
In the Options window, click the button next to Show All Files. Clear
(uncheck) the box next to "Hide MS-DOS file extensions for file types
that are registered." Then click the OK button.
-
Find the Masque folder on your C: drive. Click the plus sign next to the
folder next to the word Masque. The plus sign will change to a minus and
show you the subfolders under Masque. Click the word WSOP to highlight it,
and the right side should show Contents of WSOP.
-
On the right side of the Explorer window, scroll down to the bottom of the
big list of files until you see WSOP.EXE. Click that file name only once
to highlight it.
-
With WSOP.EXE highlighted, click the File menu at the top of the Explorer
window and choose Create Shortcut. You'll see a new shortcut created at
the bottom of the list of files under WSOP.EXE.
-
Drag the new shortcut by the icon to the Start button and let it go there.
This will create the shortcut at the top of your Start menu. To play the
game, just click that icon.
The program locks up my system during the plane ride.
-
First run ScanDisk. The usual cause of this problem is
an incompatible sound card. The World Series of Poker has been certified by
Creative Labs, the folks who make the Sound Blaster series, but some "Sound
Blaster-compatible" cards have small differences that can cause a lockup. The
sure solution is to reinstall the game, selecting No Sound Card or PC Speaker for
your sound system. Another solution is to experiment with different sound card
selections and settings to see if you can find one that matches your system.
When I try to install the game, some of the installation screens are full of
unreadable garbage.
-
This older program uses DOS graphics modes and fonts, and some newer video cards
don't support all of the older DOS fonts.
Contact us to receive a utility that interprets the fonts for some of these
video cards.
The program or my system just acts strange.
-
Run ScanDisk.
The computer does not read/call the hands correctly in Omaha Hold'em?
-
This is a common mistake people make when playing Omaha Hold'em. The rules are as
follows:
Each player receives four cards face-down as their starting hand. Five common
cards, dealt to the board, are used by all players. When the hand is over, each
player must use EXACTLY two cards from his hand and EXACTLY three from the board
to obtain his highest poker hand.
